Truly annoyed at arguments about this. I’ve worn all sizes, so here is my beef…..

Someone is making an argument to make these new models look ugly too to represent everyone. That is pretty fucking offensive to me.
Why put “ugly” on average (or plus sized) mannequins? Why not have that argument with existing mannequins and leave these new ones out of it?

I may be silly for being argumentative back but realized I have stockpiled a lot of info about mannequin types in my head over the years. The majority are not this “defined” - most are headless, devoid of contours like these, and even devoid of race.

In my rebuttal, I misnamed these as “plus size” and not “average size”. It was out of pure frustration. Someone throwing terms chunky or obese just added fuel to the fire.

Sweden takes a baby step, and others want to tear it down so quickly. Why?

People assume plus size means you have to have a predominant gut…a person can’t make that assumption if they have never filled that body type. When sized 14/16, I had no gut. But at 5’9”, weight distributes differently than someone at a shorter height.

This is fucking progress. This can be tweaked to represent US plus sizes. Mannequins don’t have to look like these. You strip away the sculpted skin and the head definition, and that strips most of the argument away. Most people just want a mannequin to show a truer fit for clothes.

Turning it into another argument for of a standard of beauty that can never be reached is nonproductive - save that for air brushed magazines. If you wanted a true argument, you would ask where are the pear-shaped, apple-shaped mannequins because not everyone has an hourglass or banana-shaped (Straight) body.

Ugly/beauty scenario has nothing to do with the selling of clothes. It is the body type of the mannequin that should do the job.

The idea that they have finally made “some” recognition that they need to make a change in mannequins is good enough for me. But it sounds like people are so unhappy with these, they prefer they do not exist and just stick to the status quo. —- Fuck status quo.

When you grow up in a world that took years to put a black person on the cover of a main stream US magazine, perhaps you see things differently. [I just threw in the race card.]

Progress takes one step at a time…..deal with it before you disassemble it.

“Do I have an original thought in my head? My bald head. Maybe if I were happier, my hair wouldn’t be falling out. Life is short. I need to make the most of it. Today is the first day of the rest of my life. I’m a walking cliché. I really need to go to the doctor and have my leg checked. There’s something wrong. A bump. The dentist called again. I’m way overdue. If I stop putting things off, I would be happier. All I do is sit on my fat ass. If my ass wasn’t fat I would be happier. I wouldn’t have to wear these shirts with the tails out all the time. Like that’s fooling anyone. Fat ass. I should start jogging again. Five miles a day. Really do it this time. Maybe rock climbing.
